Cystine Stones
Cystine stones are cause by a inherited kidney disorder involving the exceretion of some of the amino acids of which cystine is a member. These stones are visible on X-ray, but not a opaque as a calcium stone. The urinalysis is frequently helpful. The nitroprusside test is positive and typical hexagonal crystals may be seen.
